OUR STORY:

Let’s see if I can put into words how Allen Furniture came about…

After working in manufacturing for almost ten years and getting the run around I knew it was time for me to move on to something new but what??? We had recently bought a consignment store (Kids & More) so I helped run it as we learned the in and out of it. Btw there is much more work to it than you would think. As the consignment business grew we started going to auctions looking for new items to sell and one night some T.V. stands came through and no one would bid on them and I bought them so the auction could continue. The next day I sat them outside our consignment shop and they sold that day. So the next time we went to the auction we bought a couple more items and they sold as well. One night a sofa and loveseat came through the auction that I thought would look nice in my house and that set sold for over $900 that night which was a bit more than I wanted to pay. So I got to thinking maybe I should open a consignment furniture store…but to do that I would have to know what new furniture cost to know how much to sell something used. I made a couple of phone calls and one furniture rep said he was willing to meet with me and go over some details. It didn’t take me long to realize that some people had way to much mark-up in their goods and dealing with new furniture would be a little easier to deal with than used.  A week later I secured a location and put in an order for furniture. Two weeks later we opened the doors to Allen Furniture on the corner of 24^th and Okmulgee . I would sell by day and Dad and I or Mom or whoever I could get would deliver if need be after we closed. It didn’t take long before we grew out of that location of about 4000 sq ft. and moved to our current location at 24^th and Shawnee . Now we have more space and more family working the business. It was totally by the Grace of God that this came about and that the right people were put in our paths to make this happen.
